So, The meditation audio file was not the "journey" that I was hoping for. Although I wont stop believing anytime soon, I don't feel that the guided meditation style of relaxation is something that I personally can rely upon. As my hectic life and my stressful career have taught me, it is quite important to find a way to relax and de-stress so that you don't "take it home with you". I certainly have an abundance of experience with managing stress as well as holding in anger and frustration resultant from some of the more horrific calls which I have been a part of. For me, the most effective tool for relaxation and relieving stress is through laughter and humor (as morbid and often "sick" as it can be in my field). Additionally, I like to rely upon nature and the ability to enjoy my surroundings to help me to come down out of the bell tower at the end of a particularly stressful day. There really is noting like a walk on the beach or a stroll through the woods to help you to refocus and feel peaceful again.Though I do feel there is some value in the practice of meditation and guided relaxation, I do not find that it is a technique which would be particularly helpful to me. Lord knows, as soon as I would start to get into the groove of focusing on relaxation, the bells would inevitably go off and startle me from my deep meditative state leaving me half-meditated (and no one wants to see a half-meditated fireman).

Hello everyone, welcome and thank you for visiting my Blog. My name is Leo and I am a 13 year veteran of Emergency Medical Services with experience both as a civilian paramedic in the Metro-Boston area as well as during my 8-year career as a combat medic with the United States Army. I hope to share with you some of my experiences as well as some of the things which I have learned from those who I have worked with and treated over the years. Once again thanks for dropping in on my blog and reading some of the ramblings which are a result of the siren-noise in my head.
